About the Role
We are looking for part-time volunteers who can assist our instructors during weekly classes. Classes take place on the weekend or during after-school hours on weekdays, and will include a variety of STEM-related topics. Classes will have a maximum of 12 students, and appropriate COVID protocols will be followed. Volunteers have the potential to become paid instructors as our programs gain traction.
Responsibilities
Assist instructors by answering student questions and helping with a variety of teaching-related tasks
Supervise students during activities and breaks
Create a safe, fun, and positive learning environment
Take care of class equipment
Requirements, Skills, and Experience
Working toward a STEM-related bachelor’s degree along with appropriate technical skills (preferable, not necessary) or senior high school student with a strong interest in science and technology
Enjoy working with children
Highly motivated with a combination of strong written and verbal communication skills
Team player with good collaboration skills
Must be able to pass a police background check for working with children (mandatory)

Part-time (3 - 6 hours per week)
Classes will be held at schools/education centres in Burnaby and New Westminster

About the Company
Hawkeyes Drone Academy is a dynamic and innovative startup that is focused on delivering high-quality Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education to K-12 students. We currently hold classes at 2 schools in New Westminster and Burnaby respectively, but plan to expand to new schools soon. Some of the topics we teach include science, mathematics, robotics, programming, and game development (with more to follow!).
